The sample treatment is WILD. You served it up in so many different ways. Got me jamming in my bathroom at 3 in the morning.

Phenomenal work broski!

Woooo! Thanks brother it's a Honor to have your comment

Love the 80's type feel! The synths and the guitar really brings back memories of watching the Transformers 1987 movie as a kid.

Also absolutely love the guitar tone you have! Are you using a digital plugin for the amp or recording from a real amp? It's super duper clean!

LunacyEcho responds:

thanks!! okay, in the name of full transparency, i wasn't the one who actually recorded the guitar part—that belongs to my skilled friend jack. however, as per the ngadm guidelines, i did send him exact melodies and chords to play, and while he did send me a solo, i chopped it up and edited many of the rhythms and melodies so that it sounds completely different to the original solo he sent (that might explain why there are spots in the solo where the guitar sounds stretched or where the rhythm doesn't line up, lol)

i believe he used reaper to record, and i picked out an overdrive setting for him that emphasizes the low mids. i then put it through the 'clean room' amp in logic for an extra boost in the highs!

Dude, this is too awesome!
Solid story and theme.
Fully explored musical ideas.
And under 4 hours?
This is nuts lol. Really awesome job!

LunacyEcho responds:

oh, haha i was super joking about that in the forum lol—been working on this for a week :P

but thank you so much for the kind words!!! hope you don't change your score because i lied hehehe

Instrumentation doesn't right to me. The feel disingenuous and very plane. Composition wise, there is almost no development of this idea at all. Even small ideas can be expanded and developed into something far greater. This did none of that. Keep creating! I'm sure you've got plenty of musical growth in you!

eatmeatleet responds:

darn

This had some god ideas, melodies and development. However, I don't feel like the development is taken far enough. The strings were nice but you could have made a greater impact with them in the middle or some other time instead of having the new sound come in at the end. It makes feel lopsided, lol. They would've been so good for development. Either way, this is still some good work. Keep creating!

Conquestus responds:

Yea, the strings... At the beginning I forced myself to make this a pure piano creation... In the end I became weak x) ... I know it's quite unconventional (not to say, stupid, hehe), only for this reason I allowed them to be. Thanks, I will. And thanks for your review.

I really enjoy this! This sets a really nice tone/mood and continues to alter the feel of it from the entrance of the snare and strings to the vocals at the end. The one thing I think you could have done is add more to the song and develop it more! Aside from that though, this is really really great. It makes me call back to the atmospheric sound track of skyrim so bravo to you!

Conquestus responds:

Oh thanks. I'll keep that in my mind, when I should ever try to make something like that again.

This is pretty good. I like the glitch step effect/sounds that was going on. Also like the touch of the background sine. I just kinda of wished you expanded on the melodies tried more stuff with that kind of glitch audio aesthetic. Maybe even played around the melody or switched up the rythem. Either way, this sounds like some good background music for a flash game. Just would like to see more expanding. Good job!

decoyultimatum responds:

thanks and your right its kinda plain jane. when i was making it i was trying to expand on the original melody but i got stuck and decided that for now it was good enough

This track pretty good man. You used the melodies in a way where it a remix yet your still making something new and different out of it. Drums where well layed out and developed but the part where you diverge from the original melody wasn't. It last for a few seconds and I personal would have like to see push that part and develop it more. Know what Im saying? But besides that, really well remix.

By the way, what program did you use to make this?

Afrobum responds:

Thanks and yes I do. It is FL Studio 10. Thanks so much for the feedback ^^

It sound very well. Transitions are pretty good but i think you can elaborate more on this track. It has some good potential. Just start building up to a melodic climax. Over all its pretty good. Keep it up :)

camoshark responds:

Thanks for the compliments, I'm glad you enjoyed the overall sound quality considering the use of soundfonts!

As for elaboration, it's in the plans, I'll PM you when it's done!

Thanks again for the review, I'm glad you enjoyed!

Cheers,
Samuel Hebert

Sounds great! restart in the loop was very good and not noticeable. Transition were nice but for me, it would be better if you started building up to something in the song and then let a melody emerge from one of the channels but over all i cannot complain. By the way, were did you get the percussion for this loop ? I have been looking for a good 8 bit percussion set.

Special-Ed responds:

Something I try to do when making loops for video games is not make any "landmarks" as I call them (parts that stand out and make obvious when it loops)

As for the percussion samples, I made them my self with a free program called SFXR.

good luck!

I make games, music, and pixel art!
